Gocta Waterfalls

 

The department of Amazon is known by the existence of numerous archaeological rest raised by the mythical town chachapoyas. Kuélap, by all means, but is known and visited. Nevertheless, the third highest one of the world located in the district of Valera exists in its territory an endless number of places like the Cataract of Gocta, with a height of 701 meters that would clear the breath to the explorers more tanning.

It is located in the District of Valera, Province of Bongará. The year can be visited throughout it; but, it is necessary to make the route with a guide of the place. The way takes by narrow footpaths and routes to us of trail with great diversity of flora and fauna. This region offers a beautiful combination of geography and history that a magical place does of her. In the season of rains (November to March) the cataract reaches its greater volume; the German Stefan Ziemendorff along with the guide Don Telésforo Santillán, of the small village of Cocachimba made the measurement of the base and height of the cataract, whose the calculations are of 771 M.s of height. During the route it is possible to be appreciated many other cataracts of less height in the high slopes that fall from green cliffs.
